What’s up people! I pray you are having a blessed, purposed, God-fearing life. Beyonce went to Phoenix House to learn more about addiction while doing research to play the part of Etta James in the movie “Cadillac Records”. As the their web states states, “Phoenix House has been putting men, women and teens on the road to recovery. The largest non-profit alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention facility in the nation, each day we treat more than 7,000 persons in over 150 residential and outpatient programs throughout ten states.”
She was so inspired by their struggle she dedicated her salary from the movie to this organization. When Beyonce found out that cosmetology wasn’t a trade made available that could assist in their rehab she built one. On March 5th, Beyonce Cosmotology Center was opened and hopefully will inspire recovering addicts to stay on the sober path.
Beyonce, Brad Pitt (New Orleans) and many other celebrities actually use their wealth to advance life enhancing causes. Many of us can get into the habit of bashing celebrities for their at times excess and very lavish lifestyles, but we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Celebrities often times are generous but they just don’t advertise it, but I wish they allowed more spotlight on that part of their lives.
The scripture that comes to mind for the rich in our society is in the book of 1 Timothy. As I always state, some my deny the Bibles authenticity but you cannot deny its every day wisdom. You can learn more about Beyonce’s righteous act from the video.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 (New Living Translation)
17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
