I watched her interview with Oprah and am amazed at how cruel we can be. A healthy body and living a healthy lifestyle should be what is crammed into our different media outlets. Instead we focus on everyone looking like “Barbie”. The cruelty of this practice is that we praise individuals when they torture themselves to achieve this feat, but we tear them down when this image cannot be maintained. I applaud her for creating a reality show called “The Price of Beauty”, to air on VH1. This show follows Jessica and friends around the world as they study how beauty is perceived, fashion trends, and dietary practices.
I would like to highlight an unrealistic point that Oprah and Jessica brought up about not kissing and telling. Recently John Mayer put his foot in his mouth and gave a description of his sex life with Jessica. I don’t know what world they live in but quite a few men (of course not all) tell their sexual escapades to each other. It’s like a right of passage that begins in high school (maybe middle school) to kiss, tell, and compare. Truth be told women do the same thing. Marriage, when it was considered sacred, was the relationship one would stop sharing information because now its your spouse, not just some person. Most people understand that sharing that kind of information with friends (or just others) could be a formula for adultery. That’s why we all need to discipline ourselves and practice self control. The wisdom of the scriptures may be looked at as ridiculous but it’s right.
Genesis 2:23-25 (The Message)
23-25 The Man said,
“Finally! Bone of my bone,
flesh of my flesh!
Name her Woman
for she was made from Man.”
Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.
The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.
Sex is when a man and women become one. Does anybody see the significance in that anymore? Sex isn’t just each person experiencing physical pleaser. You cannot check you mind and spirit at the door and have sex with no strings attached. Sex was designed to be the most intimate a man and women could get, and continue to do to ensure they stay close. That is why God defined it as an act done between a couple that have made an open commitment to God and humanity to dedicate themselves to each other for a lifetime.
I pray that Jessica Simpson will go back to the values she spoke of before she married Nick Lache, no sex until marriage. Then you can be naked and feel no shame.
