I’ve told you all in other blogs that we look for guidance in the scriptures, and this passage was the first one that helped me understand the recent story about Chelsea King. This 17 year old senior, from San Diego, California, was last seen at school before coming up missing several days ago. Remains found in a shallow grave at a local park may be hers. An accused child molester, John Albert Gardner III, has been arrested on possible rape and first degree murder charges.

2 Timothy 3 (New Living Translation)
The Dangers of the Last Days

1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

We have to understand that we live in a world full of choices. We have to embrace the fact that people choose to allow their lives to be influenced by evil and turn away from good. That is why life has to have order, structure and restraint. Life cannot be a wild, do whatever feels good experience. All of us are capable of addictive, impulsive behavior and some of us will eventually yield. Once mind and body are convinced that feeding desires (regardless of how illicit or immoral) are needed for survival, control is lost.

We have to start looking at godliness, manners, chivalry, and righteousness as attainable ways of life. Right living and upholding decency cannot continue to be ridiculed and scoffed at as unrealistic and judgmental. Fight to preserve the innocence of our children and stop leaving a relationship with God off the table of options. Seek God for yourselves and his truth shall be revealed. Ask God to show you how he is real and applicable. If you truly hunger and thirst for Him, He will answer just as He did for me and billions of others.

For all those who believe in prayer, continue to pray for this world and its inhabitants. Strive to live as children of God and love unconditionally. We also really need to evaluate what should be done about sex offenders, because we have too many repeat offenders.
