There is a bit of controversy being stirred over an ad sponsored by a christian group called “Focus On The Family” featuring Tim Tebow and his mother Pam during the Super Bowl. Pam was given the option to abort Tim because of some health complications she was facing, but obviously she chose to press on with the pregnancy. Certain groups like the National Organization for Women are calling for CBS to pull the commercial because it is divisive and has no place at an athletic event. If that is the case, all ads that don’t directly relate with sports should be pulled.

It is amazing that anything with substance gets criticized. Anything that causes us as a society to think about past decisions, morality, life, death, eternity, responsibility, irresponsibility, etc… is seen as a private matter and inappropriate to bring up in a public forum. We are bombarded with ads with sexuality for just about anything at all times of the day, but that is O.K. This country is about free speech and if you don’t agree with something, disagree with civility. Groups like the one stated in the latter and the media are making an issue out of nothing. If unaddressed this would have been another commercial that may or may not have sparked discussion. This will be a forgotten issue as soon as the game is played.
