“Resilient – able to withstand or recovery quickly from different conditions”. As the days begin to flow into weeks since the tragedy in Haiti we are beginning to hear more stories about the strength of the people. I have heard different sources talk about the commerce being sold on the streets of Port-au- Prince, rebuilding of homes with what is available, and the amazing will for the Haitian community to thrive and survive. I even heard one media source talk about how they are ready to help themselves and are looking forward to building a better country.

We in the United States, this land of opportunity, need to be resilient as we go thru our economic situation. I know times are hard and many of us are experiencing some extremely difficult situations but we cannot give up on life. We cannot depend on the government and other organizations to always give us the help we need. Truth be told with all the infrastructure our country has in place, it would be a travesty to give up when life gives us a knock out blow.

I pray that we take all the lessons our Haitian brothers and sisters will show us and apply them.
