Our first African-American President has finished one full year of presidency and it has been quite interesting. We all know the issues the administration is facing, and we know that many of them were inherited. It’s amazing how some act like all of these serious problems manifested the day President Obama took office. It’s almost criminal how some just disregard that two families (Clinton and Bush) have had presidential influence over this country for over two decades.

In my opinion President Obama came in with high aspirations and maybe an unrealistic plan on how fast change could come to our country. I compare it to a CEO brought in to fix a company and then realizing after a true assessment of the situation that, this is really a mess. Our countries political aspect has been deeply affected by back door deals, pride, racism, sexism, etc… for years. As a people many of us are fed up with it, and are now connecting with the inner workings of our political system.

We need to pray for our current administration, so they can govern us well. We also need to continue this interest in our political system and participate in our local, state, and national elections. Getting a senate or house seat shouldn’t be looked at as job security, but a position that truly represents a segment of people. That seat should echo the voice of all its constituents, but the silent have to make their issues heard.

President Obama has 3 more years, but I think we all realize that we have our own parts to play in the success of this great country of ours. What great ideas and concepts can we come up with at our level that can change unemployment and health care? What examples can we come up with that will be effective and gain the attention of the government?
